Do you think you have had a premonition before? How can someone know something is about to happen even before it does? Could it be an event that is paranormal or maybe it is just feelings that we get if things are not exactly right? Premonitions are not believed in by scientists. They only believe in things that they can prove to be facts. They know that there have been reports of people that have had knowledge of events or have had feelings about things prior to it occurring.
Do We See the Future?
Ian Stevenson, a biochemist in Canada and a psychiatry professor, has a very prominent example of recordings of premonitions. Two weeks prior to the Titanic devastation he was able to record over nineteen different premonitions from his patients. Each premonition included something like visions of people canceling their trips because they felt that something bad was going to happen and even some dreams that people had of the actual disaster.
Nearly every person that has had a premonition has said that it was not pleasant at all. They tend to come with a terrible feeling of fear and an overwhelming sense of being uneasy regarding the coming events. It is common for people to know that something bad is about to occur but not know enough to make a difference.
Premonitions occur much more often than most people understand. The subject of the premonition is typically surrounding something or someone that will affect you. The premonitions come about in multiple ways. It is sometimes a dream, sometimes a feeling. It is sometimes called a sixth sense.
Premonitions of murders, death, robberies, plane crashes and accidents are predominantly the type that are felt or 'seen'. They often happen within hours of the person having the premonition. The emotional aspects of a dream often leave the person with the most disquieting feelings. They are at a loss as how to explain the impending sense of dread they feel.
Dreams sometimes are very clear and leave nothing to the imagination. They allow the dreamer to see a tragic event happening to someone in their life, whether it be someone that is close to them or a direct family member. These types of dreams can cause a lot of hard emotions and some people try to push it to the back of their minds and move on. They may be able to do it for a while but eventually the dream will come true.
Is it possible that premonitions come from beyond this world? The premonition is a feeling or something you see as in a dream. It is fueled by apprehension of something that is about to happen but we do not know what. Premonitions are sense oriented.
Could it be that things are happening in another dimension and we are seeing it in a premonition? It could be that when we go to sleep we are actually seeing the things that are happening in the other dimension. The theory of astral projection may just fit with this explanation.
Is this something that is just too far out to actually occur? Many people over history has had to face ridicule for something that they believed in firmly because, in that moment, it seemed truly impossible. Do you think that people actually believed that a man would take a walk on the moon one day? If, prior to the actual event, it was brought up, surely everyone would have considered the person to be crazy.
Is There a Good Explanation for Premonitions?
Just because something does not fit in with the normal way we think, is it to be dismissed without another thought? There are many instances of premonitions that have been recorded throughout time. Take for instance the premonition of Abraham Lincoln of his own death. He dreamt only ten days before his death that he was with people who were mourning in the East Wing of the White House. He asked a soldier standing nearby who it was that had died and the soldier told him it was the President.
Does the book Futility that was written in 1898 sound familiar to you? Maybe the Wreck of the Titan? It was written fourteen years before the Titanic was sunk. It tells a story about the Titan, a ship that sank in the North Atlantic. The ship was sunk by an ice berg, there were not enough life boats to go around, it had three propellers, and the Titanic was the exact same size. All of these things are much like the Titanic right down to the names of the boats.
Morgan Robertson wrote this book. How did it come about that the shipwreck so closely resembled one that would happen 14 years later? Regardless of what you call them, premonitions or visions, there seems to be similarities that the book shares with the actual sinking of the Titanic. Did the author of this book see the story told in a premonition and feel compelled to write the book?
It is something that may never be understood. Things unfold from the universe and mysteries are solved in their own time. It is not possible to predict when a premonition, or vision, will be shown to someone.
