Soak It Up With A Wet Floor Mat

by Angie Meza

Sometimes it seems as if it rains nonstop and we can't get a break. Everything in and around our house seems to be soaked and there is always water seeping in and under the garage door. In addition, we track dirt in from the streets and rainwater drips off our cars when we park them inside at the end of a trip. It can be difficult to keep our garage in a clean condition and messy floors can also be dangerous.

Have you ever tried unpacking your groceries from the trunk of your car during a heavy rainstorm? It's at this time that we really appreciate the value of our garage, which allows us to drive in and empty our car without getting wet. However, the floor still gets soaked and we should consider placing a wet floor mat to solve this.

As a wet floor mat is the answer to residue which is being brought in from the street on the tires of your vehicle or that may be seeping from your driveway, you need to look for an absorbent product that does not cause you a considerable amount of extra work and does the job with little maintenance.

If you have been out driving in the rain you will find that there is a lot of water on and underneath your car. As such, you will need a very absorbent material to help you absorb the gallons of liquid which will run off in your garage. Choose polypropylene, which is the best material for the job.

As wet floor mats come in different sizes and configurations you can place them beneath each of the cars in your garage and not have to worry about getting a mop and bucket out again. As the absorbent mats will clean up the street residue, pooling water will not have a chance to attract additional dirt and mold which is difficult to get rid of.

You may be able to think of other areas around your house where you could use a wet floor mat. For example you may have some moisture in your basement or areas where condensation builds up and accumulates on the floor, causing a potential hazard for someone who could slip.

The base of a wet floor mat is made of a nonslip material and it is specifically designed so that the water contained therein will not seep out. As such, you can leave them in place with out maintenance for lengthy periods.

If you are not careful, if you leave water standing in your garage for a long period of time you can get water accumulation and will end up with rotten cabinet wood. A wet floor mat will help prevent damage to those cabinets as well as to walls and floors. The absorbed water will just evaporate and all you need to do is vacuum the mat when dry to remove dirt.
