Ozark Trail

On dark, clear night an amazing world awaits even the casual observer. Telescopes and binoculars are optional and viewing is best at night when the moon is not full. So here are five great ways for a clear night with the children enjoy:
Find satellites
Our air is filled with all kinds of weather satellites, spacecraft communications satellites to the space station. On clear nights, they are easy to recognize. Look at what looks like a slow moving star. Unlike an airplane, these articles are not flashing lights and are usually white in appearance as they reflect light from the sun.
Generally speaking, the slower the satellite appears to move across the sky, the higher the job. And satellites will tend to disappear again, dim and brighten depending on the rotation of the object and how well the sunlight is reflected.
Watch out for falling stars
Certainly times of the year, the Earth enter into debris trails left behind by fleeing comets. One such period is usually in mid August and another is around the second week of November. These meteor showers are the best times for shooting stars, sometimes 50 or 60 hours per observing.
Caused by dust and small particles burning up as they in dense atmosphere of the earth, shooting stars be seen any time of the year less frequent patterns.
Since the middle of the night the best opportunities View during meteor showers may be a special treat for the children awake and go out during what would normally their bed time. Local weather stations and the Internet are the best sources of information as meteor showers will occur in your area.
Find some constellations
Constellations his star groups in antiquity thought seemed people, animals and creatures were familiar. Today, people still navigating how the constellations appear to be adjusted.
Armed with a book on the night, stars or some information gained from the Internet, many of the constellations are easily recognizable. Orion and the Big Dipper are just a few of the systems easier to recognize.
Looking for Big Bear
The Great Bear, also known as Ursa Major or Big Bear, "is an important constellation for navigation purposes as connecting two of the stars in the system will always lead to Polaris, the North Star. Knowing that means that we always find north on a clear night.
The Big Dipper looks like a huge ladle with a curved handle and four stars that appear in a cup-like manner. From our position on this planet, the constellation rotates around Polaris in the night.
For Polaris, just connect the two stars farthest of the handle and pull an imaginary line from the bottom of the cup to the top. The next star that you should see is Polaris, the North Star. Contrary to the ideas, it is not shine. But it is very consistent in its location.
Explore the Galaxy
Especially on summer nights, the Milky Way, our galaxy, appears to extend over the night sky as a milky cloud. But this cloud is composed of millions of stars.
To Galaxy, it is almost better looking, but not close in the right direction of the galaxy. Then your eyes better able to retrieve the contrast between the darkness of space and the soft glow of that sea of stars.
These are only five suggestions for night stargazing fun with your children. It is always a time to share thoughts about the vastness of space, the wonder of creation and the beauty of the sky. Simply realize that most of the stars we see hundreds, even thousands light years away and that some may have disappeared, though their light is still traveling to the Earth is enough to make young minds take notice.
So a few minutes and spend time with your kids tonight, staring at the sky and were amazed, surprised.
