Memory Foam is a very difficult product to understand in general. There are so many myths and false truths on the internet that it is difficult to understand the product and how to correct to find one for you. There are two important things to know before buying a memory foam product online. The first is the density and the second is ILD (indentation Load Deflection - or firmness). Most listings do not even mention ILD and density is very often lied about on Ebay.

Density is a measure of the quality you tell how much a cubic foot of memory foam weighs. Density is a measure of quality, not strength. The most common density is 5 pounds memory foam and that is where the confusion begins. Tempur was the first memory foam material on the market and the density is 5.3 lbs. per cubic foot. This quickly has become the standard for measuring the quality of memory foam products. For a topper, memory foam 3 pounds or better will normally suffice. For a mattress, memory foam 4 pounds or better is recommended. If the density is less than 4 pounds. per cubic foot, the mattress will not last very long. You can easily count on 4 pounds or better mattress to last you for more than 10 years. There is a new type of memory foam that weighs 8 pounds with a density. Tempurpedic has a new mattress that will use a density of 7.2 pounds. This super-high-density memory foam product that will have an interesting new trends in the foam bedding industry.

ILD is a measure of firmness with foam products. It can be very confusing to understand how the measurement process works, so I will try my best to explain in plain English. The easiest way to understand ILD is the use of a sliding scale. With memory foam products of the most frequent ILD ratings are 8-20. 8 is plush and 20 is tough. Tempur material has an ILD of 14 and has an average strength level. Memory Foam with an ILD rating of 10 is plush and supportive with a rating of 5 pounds density. ILD is the most important thing to consider when buying memory foam products anywhere.

Creating Memory Foam

Memory Foam is made in 3 main ways

1. The first way to make memory foam with a molding process. This is the way creates their memory foam Tempurpedic. On Ebay, 85% of the lists are created by only two different companies. A company is completely dishonest about their products and the other uses their other IDs to mislead customers into seeing false competition. Be careful when buying memory Foam on Ebay and not a victim.
