Adipex is a drug that belongs to the family of Amphetamine. It's prescribed by the doctors for those that are obese and wish to lose weight. This is a hunger suppressant and also affects the nervous system. However, it can also be used for other purposes than those that are specified by FDA.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure or even arteriosclerosis (it means the hardening of arteries), overactive thyroid or even glaucoma, then you should consult the doctor before using the drug. The drug shouldn't be taken when one is in an agitated or even in an anxious state. If you have ever had any kind of drug or alcohol abuse in the past, then you should avoid consuming this drug.

The doctors don't prescribe this drug for those that use MAO inhibitors. Even if someone has taken MAO inhibitors in the past 14 days, then they should consult the doctor before using the drug. Never mix Adipex with other drug medication such as fenfluramine (Phen-Fen) or dexfenfluramine (Redux) as it can cause pulmonary hypertension that is a life-threatening situation.

Even if you are suffering from epilepsy, seizure or diabetes, you must state your condition to the doctor before its use. In many cases, the doctors won't recommend the drug to you. In other cases the dosage may be altered to suit your conditions and requirements.

Those that are younger than 16 years shouldn't use the drug. Since the drug can be addictive, when taken for a long time, talk to your doctor about the dosage and the right way of having the drug. Since the drug can be quite habit forming, keep it in a safe place.

Just like other drugs, Adipex does have some side effects. For this reason, it's important that you are careful while using the drug in the manner that it has been prescribed. Always count the number of pills that have been used. If you think that someone else has also been taking the medication, then removes it from its usual place and keeps it somewhere else.

Since Adipex is a depressant, the drug should never be sued in conjunction with any alcohol or other drugs that are depressants. Never drive or operate machinery after using it. Adipex can cause your mental and physical alertness to fall.

Many people may even experience worse withdrawal symptoms. The drug shouldn't be stopped at once. You should use the pills less and only after that, you should stop taking the drug. Depression and extreme tiredness could be withdrawal symptoms.
