And if that does not, perhaps John's Old Fashioned Cream Pie will. Our grandmothers did not need many ingredients Fancy coming with some great desserts, but they have put some things together and get something to remember. By following these recipes that you can cook a blast from the past!
SOUR CREAM Raisin Pie
This recipe is a former Iowa church cookbook.
1 cup sour cream
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 / 2 cup raisins
1 / 4 c. Cinnamon Tea
1 / 4 c. Tea Nuts nutmeg
1 / 4 c. ground cloves
1 9-inch unbaked pie shell
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl. Pour into pie shell unbaked and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour until done.
John's Old Fashioned Cream Pie
John was a great cook and his mother in the area where I grew up in the 1950s.
1 flood of 9 inch pie
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 / 2 cup flour
1 tsp Cinnamon Tea
pinch of salt
1 / 2 cup half and half cream
milk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, white sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt, gradually add the cream. When the mixture is well blended Pour into pie shell. Add enough milk to fill tank if necessary. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes then reduce temperature to 350 degrees and cook for another 30 minutes.
Note: To keep the crust from getting too brown, you can cover edges of crust with foil and remove 5 to 10 minutes of the last firing.
