Imagine waking up one morning and discover that your whole life was a lie. What would you do? Matthew Peters has lived his life thinking he was an only child and had no brothers or sisters and true family. In a flash, that changed when his mother on her deathbed, said he was adopted and the truth about his birth and the circumstances that led to its adoption.
Distraught, angry and frustrated, he went find legal assistance and an investigator to find his real mother and learn the truth about his identity. A phone call from the investigator shall his whole world to come crashing down and a chain of events that followed so horrible, deceitful and cunning he captures the reader's attention and holds throughout the novel.
Rather than addressing the issues of adoption and the knowledge he has a twin brother, Matthew becomes hate resentment and anger in the life of his brother is alive and decided it would be his. Lurking behind the bushes and spying his brother and his family, he learns their daily lives and decides to eliminate his brother John, taking him out of the picture along with someone else who might stand in his way.
Pretending to be someone else and learning about this person has proved a difficult task, even if sometimes the author leaves you thinking he has become fully accomplished his brother, she is intelligent and masterfully draws the reader into this web of hatred and deceit that Matthew has created and you think he might actually pull it off.
Matthew intelligently learns everything he can about the wife of John Allison, but important differences and nuances in his life and personality, he tries to imitate, but really can not. Allison and John's marriage was rocky and he cheated on her with another woman. It was not very attentive and stayed late for work most nights. He rarely, if ever made advances to his wife in any way and would not sit and do homework with her children or a night of family fun.
While Allison and others noticed differences in him not only at home, in the room and work, he managed to convince everyone that he had changed. Getting position of John in the advertising firm where he worked and encouraged his wife to return to modeling, set alarms to the spirit of Allison, but she has never leased under.
But the best laid plans not always pan. After resuming the life of John, he was arrested for the murder of his best friend and a suspect in the murder of the lover of John's. Although it fails to make him change his mind and create a veil of innocence about him, the reader hopes it will eventually get caught and Allison is to play with him to know what really happened to John and why.
Then in walks his real father who found him and I wanted to learn to know him and his brother. Knowing that everyone had a birthmark different, Matthew did not want or thought necessary to prove his identity to him or someone else. However, in the shower because Allison did and said that John had his mole removed. Matthew said, it must be rejected which leads the reader to believe that Allison could now confirmed in his mind that it was not John. Encourage to return to modeling and taking on as a client's business was another red flag for Allison to be careful.
Everything Throughout the book of Matthew is found in many difficult situations that he tries to talk his way out of. He meets people he knows that John and Matthew, and possibly his worlds intertwine and the results: Well you should read the book to see what happens and if he goes ahead and gets stuck.
Falling in love with another man's wife does not always translate into marital bliss or a happy ending. Bangs of guilt and anguish of his force to begin to see John wherever he went and the ghosts of others he has killed.
Via Allison and his cool and collected manner and strong personality the author masterfully lures the spider (Matthew) in the web Allison just get the collar.
