If you are like a lot of people who lift their arms in the air and discover that there are ugly wet marks or a terrible odor that comes out, you may feel as if you need to keep your arms down at your side at all times. This makes some people feel self conscious and it may cause you to spend all of your time worrying about your armpits rather than where you are.

Lucky for you, there are some things you can do that may solve the problem for you. Here are some suggestions as to how to stop underarm sweating.

1. Wear Loose Clothes

Wearing tight fitting clothing is not a good idea for people who have problems with sweating too much. Not only does it keep the air from being able to circulate close to your skin, it also keeps the sweat trapped in. When that happens it can cause more sweating problems. Cotton clothing and fabrics like it seem to work best for preventing excessive sweating. Manmade fibers seem to cause more sweating problems.

2. Use Prescription Antiperspirants

If the regular kinds of antiperspirants available are not working for you, there are some that are prescription strength that have keep the sweat from leaving the pores. You will have to see your doctor and get a prescription to try these types.

3. Iontophoresis

This technique is new but effective. It uses mild electrical charge to zap your sweat glands which reduces the amount of sweat that you produce. This has to be done often and it can also be expensive.

4. Surgical Procedures

Some people opt for several different surgical techniques that can be used to physically remove some of the sweat glands. These carry the risk of scarring and are very expensive. These should only be attempted if nothing else has worked.

Try to relax a little, everyone's armpits sweat. Chances are that good hygiene and regular use of antiperspirants will prevent you from having to worry about underarm sweating.
