Does using a Disney Dining Plan save you money?
Good question. Disney says if you use one of these plans you will get a% 20 - 40% off restaurant bills. That sounds like a very good deal, but is it?
In January of 2009, Disney has added the Quick Service plan room to eat other plans to give guests a full range of fare packages cheap choose. There are 3 basic "eat" plans to choose from. They range from fast function of all luxuries. Here is a summary of each. (All meals are provided per night of your stay)
* Fast Service - 2 meals (to places quick service) and snacks. Includes a reusable mug. 2009 price 31.99 $ For adults and 9.99 for children (ages 3-9) per night of your stay.
* Meal Plan - 1 quick service meal, 1 table service meal (all participating restaurants) and 1 snack, Includes a reusable mug. 2009 price $ 39.99 for adults and $ 10.99 for children (ages3-9) per night of your stay.
* Deluxe Dining Plan - 3 meals and 2 snacks per person. Includes a reusable mug. 2009 The price is $ 71.99 for adults and $ 20.99 for children (age 3-9)
Disney has other plans, but they include leisure activities.
The small print - all guests are in your party must be on the plan. The plan must be booked for the entire duration of your booking. Gratuities are extra.
Back to our question will be plans to save money?
If you use them to their full, yes, they will. But using them is the greatest not an easy task. Take for example a day of each plan.
The plan to fast --
* Breakfast - $ 6.99 for one omelet ham and cheese (the most expensive thing on the menu) to Pop At Disney's Pop Century - Reusable Mug used for drinking.
* Lunch - $ 8.48 for a combo meal hot dog and soft drink at Casey's Corner in the Magic Kingdom.
* Snacks - 4.94 for an ice cream bar and a drink Mickey gas.
Day TOTAL $ 20.41. If you stay 5 days, the proportionate part of the mug is $ 3.00. This brings the total to $ 23.41. It's a long way from $ 31.99.
We must work very hard to plan a quick bargain.
The Dining Plan --
* Breakfast - $ 6.99 - I am a creature of habit. (See above.)
* Dinner - $ 30.99 - Adult price 'Ohana.
* Snack - $ 2.59 for an ice cream bar Mickey
Total $ 39.57. Again, the prorated cost of the reusable cup is 3.00 $.
It almost makes sense. You can save money by using a Disney Dining Plan Disney choosing restaurants in the world where meals are more expensive than average.
The Dining Plan Deluxe --
* Breakfast - $ 16.98 - Steak and eggs and juice in Kona Cafe.
* Lunch - $ 31.75 - Pato Tacos, Tacos Al Pastor, vanilla flan in San Angel Inn at Epcot.
* Dinner - $ 41.95 Shrimp Cocktail, Nihonbashi, chocolate ginger cake Teppan Edo in Epcot.
Total $ 90.68 - Now that's a good deal.
Yeah, a good deal if you want real weighed 700 pounds when you take your trip. Three full-service meal per day is a lot of food. It takes too much time. Each seat meal takes about half past one. It would be more than 4 hours per day to eat lunch let alone a billion calories.
The Disney Dining plans are designed to allow you to prepay your meals and make you think you are saving. They are not designed to help you save money. Disney is in business to make money. They are pretty good at it.
The Disney Dining plans can be affordable if you are careful to choose cheap restaurants for meals. But for most of these plans makes sense for Disney.
The best thing about dining plans Disney is once or twice a year Walt Disney World offers free.
