How much difference in driving performance and comfort between the Ford Ka and BMW 3-series 316i?

I'm upgrading from a Ford Ka (1.3l) to a BMW 3 series (1,6) I others have already said, the 316 is in another league. The Ford Ka was technically slower but smaller and less sophisticated may well feel faster. It will also be a little fun would not purchase. I would run a Ka until I saved enough money to buy a 325/328/330. But the 316 will feel like a limo in comparison with a Ka. Smooth, comfortable and quiet. Oh and I agree by JG until he said that the Ka would cost more to run. I can not over stress how wrong this is. Fords are more reliable than before and BMW's are not as reliable as people want to believe. To be honest, not bad in terms of reliability, but for routine maintenance of all BMW, even a 316, much more expensive than a Ka. Tires will expensive, insurance will be expensive and it will get worse MPG. I can not get over how stupid a person who thinks that a BMW of any kind will be cheaper to run than a Ka is! I got off of a BMW and bought a Ford Focus two years ago and for my wife's birthday this year I had enough saved to the running costs for its diamonds. I think that says it all.
