What is the best kind of mattress for a person who is overweight?

One of my family is overweight and has a lot of moaning recently about his mattress. Apparently The feathers keep breaking and some by stabbing in the back which I propose is not as comfortable so I said I would look on the internet to see what types of alternatives available, but I dont really know the first thing about mattresses except that some have feathers and some dont. What I want to know is what kind of mattresses are recommended for large people? Requirements. Ideally the mattress should either really strong springs or no feathers at all. The price must not exceed £ 1000 already as cheap as possible without compramising good quality and durability. The mattress for a single bed. The person will have to try out the beds. You can not just say what mattress is best for a particular group. Any person as different feels. Generally heavier people as a firmer bed. But, never say never. Some want it really soft. He will have to go to the store and try them .....
